Happy 4th of July!

Every 4th of July our neighborhood has a bike parade! Decorating the bikes is always quite an event. We waited until the morning of...thinking the older kids could do it on their own...what were we thinking??? So, we frantically got every one's bike decorated in time for the parade. On the way, Brittian's flag got caught in his pedal and he fell. He was so emotional we did not think he would get back up on his bike...let alone make it to the parade on time. After a little encouragement and some extra tape...they were on there way!

This year Kurt was able to ride his own bike and join the crew in the festivities. Boy was he proud!!!

He started to get a little nervous right before it started.

He happened to be the first one in the line!

He had some quiet meditation time before the parade started. Then everybody was off! Of course I was ahead ready to take pictures. First, I saw Adah, then Brittian, then Drew...but no Kurt. He had been the first one in line? How could this be? Then minutes later he comes around the corner with a little nervous look on his face. Unfortunately, in the excitement of the start call...his bike fell over. Evan was busy helping Brittian fix his flag AGAIN, and missed the whole thing. We felt so bad. Being the good sport that he was...he got back up with help and was on his way. We were not sure if he would want to do that again. However, every so often he will say, "Mommy, you 'member' that parade?" I will say yes...then he will smile so big and proud...and it is all I can do to not squeeze those big dimples! My little Kurt is growing up so fast.
