Happy Birthday Drew!

Drew turned 6 this year! He invited all his buddies over for a Lego Party! Thanks to Evan and Grampy the party was a huge success!
The first game was the Lego on a spoon race.
Nice and easy Britt...
Not too fast...
Next up was the Darth Vader dart game.

The party continues

Soon it was time to pass out the Lego Space Police craft. It was a bit hit! The boys each made their own with a little help.
Here is Drew hard at work!
Time to eat!
Grampy was a huge help getting the drinks passed out.
Yummy corn dogs, chips, and strawberries!

Finally, it was time to smash the Lego pinata!
Go DREW!
The candy went everywhere..
Time for cake!
Well, the party was a big hit and everyone had a wonderful time!

Drew, you are growing up so fast. You always have such a special smile on your face. We are so thankful for the many ways the Lord has gifted you. What a great student you are and an amazing athelete. It is also so encouraging to see you grow in your walk with the Lord. You are a blessing to our family and we love you so very much!
Happy Birthday Drew!

Spring is Here!

We had such beautiful weather the other weekend. Half the crew played 2 on 2 basketball while the other half sat on the side lines and cheered everyone on! These days Annascott enjoys wearing Adah's bike helmet when she plays outside.

Anderson Academy Field Trip

The kids have learned all the U.S Presidents. This year we are working on learning their first names as well. They decided to do their weekly speech for Classical Conversations on President James K. Polk. Did you know he was our 11th President and that he was born in Pineville, North Carolina? Once we learned that, we headed to Pineville to stand on the exact land where he grew up and experience the life he lived as a little boy on the farm. It is amazing how much I learn each day as a teacher. It makes me wonder what I learned in school?

Here is the whole class on the front steps of the Polk's "recreated" house.

Early Easter Egg Hunt

The other day the kids pulled out the Easter eggs and Brittian sent Annascott out for her first egg hunt. Last year she was too young to participate. She caught on very quickly! We have no doubts she will be ready for the big hunt in a week!

Kurt helped me make this Easter wreath for the front door. Way to go buddy. Good job!

Sweet n Spicy & Sweet Potato Adah

Last week was a hard week.
Annascott climbed out of her crib one morning and again during her afternoon nap. It was not until I heard heard a muffled cry that I ran upstairs to check on her. It was coming from behind the closed door of the boy's bathroom. I quickly opened it and found Annascott standing in an inch of water which was running off the counter from the sink, which she had clogged, and was overflowing with running water. After rescuing her and cleaning up the mess I saw that her afternoon nap was not going to happen. The rest of the day we had a very fussy and over tired 2 year old on our hands. Everytime I turned around she was into something different. After vacuuming up an entire box of Cheerios that she spilt down the stairs...I was finally pushed to my limit! As soon as Evan walked in the door. I escaped to my bathtub frustrated and exhausted from parenting my out of control little "sweet n spicy." However, when I crawled into bed that night I was surprised to find this sweet note in my bed from my "sweet potato Adah."
What an encouragement this note was!!! Especially since I know she was just as exhausted from babysitting her little sister that day. I don't know what I would do without Adah!
The next day we took the crib down and set up the toddler bed. I bought a few child door locks and got out the gates. A sweet neighbor let me have her old video monitor as well. After a few attempts to get out of her new bed...Annascott quickly learned her new boundaries. However, everyday she continues to surprise us with her adventures. Today I did found her upstairs in the guest bedroom with the window 4 inches open (no screen). My, this 5th child of mine has finally caused me to understand why people have created all this child lock stuff. I've never had to pull it out for any of my other children. I'm praying daily for strength for Annascott's guardian angels!
