Getting ready for the birds

Today the kids made their own bird feeders.
First, they covered the pine cones with peanut butter. Next, they rolled them in bird seed. The last step was decorating them with peanuts and cranberries.
Kurt enjoys a little peanut butter snack between spreads.

Hard at work!

Drew is pretty proud of his feeder.

Nice job Adah!

Don't they look delicious!

The boys set out some worms for the blue birds while we waited for our feeders to be discovered.

Easy does it! Kurt is very interested in the wiggly worms.

YUCK! Here they are!

The boys enjoyed watching the little rascals squirm around for quite a while. Of course, Adah was interested in other things.

Kurt was ready to do some bird watching!

Suddenly, we had our first customer.

Last year we had baby blue birds. However, just 2 weeks after they were born...a raccoon snuck into our bird house and enjoyed a nice dinner. We hope to have better luck this year!
